PLAYID is a platform designed as a support tool for traditional therapy, created to offer an experience of character self-exploration through gameplay. PLAYID allows users to generate an interactive map that evolves based on the choices made across the various games explored. By providing patients with a safe environment in which to explore themselves, these personal maps record feedback and areas for growth, transforming play into a pathway that traces the evolution of the player’s personality.
The project is conceived as a support tool for traditional psychological therapy, enabling therapists to integrate a therapeutic pathway through video games with the help of a personal platform for patients. Through video game–based storytelling, which takes place in a safe environment such as the virtual one, patients can explore themselves, understand their individuality and personal traits, and outline their own path. This process helps not only to highlight potential and skills, but also to recognize vulnerabilities and areas for improvement.
The distinctive element of PLAYID is the creation of interactive personal maps, unique to each player, which function as evolutionary pathways of the user’s personality. These maps, continuously updated, make it possible to visualize one’s gameplay journey as a reflection of personal attitudes, desires, and shortcomings. Through this graphical representation, players are able to better understand their own behavior and envision paths of growth, both individual and social.
PLAYID makes it possible to use video games as a powerful means of introspection, combining narrative and interactive design. In this way, the project not only enhances each player’s unique abilities, but also opens up new perspectives in the fields of therapy and personal development by bringing what is built in the virtual world into the real one; offering a concrete opportunity to explore not only who one is, but also who one could become.
